Folks, I just have to share how Garett from Auto Fitness made my day this morning. As most of you know me, I am in the Veterans Club and am very passionate about helping Veterans. Fact: Just because a person is a Veteran, it doesn’t means that person qualified for medical benefits at the VA or received VA compensation. I can tell you that we have a broken system in this country. Sad, but true. Anyway, Veterans Club has been trying to help this one particular homeless Veteran since Christmas. Our intent was to help this Veteran by paying for the fixing of the car, so this Veteran can continue to drive to work. For whatever reason, this Veteran wasn’t making it easy, for us to help. I had to make a tough decision and had to tell this person why Veterans Club can’t help at that time. It is not easy to tell someone why we can’t help when we know that person needs it. Tough love… Surprisingly, I received a call from this same Veteran yesterday and asking if we can still help her. I automatically said yes and made a few calls, to include Garrett from Gainesville Auto fitness. I made arrangement to have the car dropped off this morning between 8:30-9:00am. Great! Of course after 9:30am this morning, the car wasn’t at Auto Fitness. I got very frustrated because here I was trying to help this person and she wasn’t putting any effort to be there on time for an appointment. I ended up telling this person that Veterans Club will no longer help with fixing her car because she is not even trying to help herself and that the deal was off. Boy, that woke her up quick. She got to Auto Fitness within 20 minutes. Garrett from Auto Fitness called me to informed me of all the safety concerns and what needed to be fixed. Fyi, this Veteran has to crawl in the passenger door to get in and out of the car. Driver’s door couldn’t be opened, window couldn’t be rolled up or down. As a result, the switch and wires in the door were damaged, so the lights and other things don’t work, to include the door has to be replaced. It is very expensive to get all those things fixed, Garrett told me that he will help with what he can on his part, he only charges us for the parts at wholesale price (what he paid for the parts) and nothing else. What a kind thing to do! Garrett is just an amazing person. If you have an opportunity to support Auto Fitness, please do so by bringing your car there for services and please mention Cresswind Veterans think very highly of him.
